The Wormhole Weapon

One of the nice things about being me is that I literally have so much music that I haven't even listened to it all- I just kind of hoard it from wherever & however against a time when it can no longer be had, not even knowing if I like it or not yet- so maybe it's time to open the terabyte wormhole and come up with some objective reporting, yeah?

Its been awhile since I've put anything to words in print, and when I'm doing a radio show, I don't always have the time or opportunity to ramble and rant as I would like (stupid FCC), or play everything I get my hands on, so let's even the score a bit.

An exciting acquisition recently was the newest album from Illdisposed - "Grey Sky Over Black Town". Picking up exactly where they left off, "Again" captures exactly what these Danish brutes are all about: proving a point, but with eloquence and skill;  the chunky grind of "My flesh Is Sealed" is over far too soon, but becomes an excellent counterpart to "You're an Angle Of The Light"... and just when you think "From The Rain" is the best way to end such an awesome album, my favorite words: BONUS TRACK. Available only on the Digipack version, "I've Been On My Own", "Its Almost Night" and "This Is The Ride" are three of the best Illdisposed songs I've heard - and I own all their albums...

Neighbouring Illdisposed's home of Aarhus, the great country of Germany produces (in my opinion) some of the finest rock & metal in the world, past, present & future. It is the chosen home of Manowar, the birthplace of Helloween (pre- Andi Deris), Iron Savior, Kreator... but they just plain out ROCK, too..  in the vein of Unherz' "Damoklesschwert" and Unantastbar "Hoch das Glas",  the pleasures of life continue in audio form with a new album from Punk/ Rock band Larrikins.

The beauty of "Am Ende war de Mensch" lies in their ability to have fun with the music, which is basically the point of life in general - to enjoy being alive, for however long your time might be. By the time the initial track "Nummer 3" has ended, you're hooked by the energy and drawn down a line of seriously enjoyable and clearly inspired tracks such as "Wut" and "Kopie", but are also enlivened by the talent of "Alles auf Anfang" and "Glashaus".  This album was worth my time, and shall be for you as well, my friends; live well, enjoy great music.
